Hace eones, un enfrentamiento titánico dividió el mundo: el maestro hechicero Enno Ozuno contra la temible diosa demoníaca Karuma. Sin poder vencerla por sí solo, Enno tuvo que invocar a Zenki, un demonio guardián de inmenso poder. Tras sellar la amenaza de Karuma, Enno aprisionó a Zenki en un pilar dentro de su propio templo, aguardando tiempos venideros.
Mil doscientos años después, Chiaki, descendiente de Enno, lleva una vida tranquila en Shikigami-cho, guiando turistas y realizando exorcismos para subsistir. Su paz se ve truncada cuando dos ladrones profanan el templo Ozuno, buscando un tesoro oculto. En lugar de riquezas, liberan una entidad oscura que corrompe a los intrusos, transformándolos en monstruos demoníacos que siembran el caos.
Ahora, el destino de Shikigami-cho recae en Chiaki. Ella deberá despertar el legado ancestral de su familia, invocar al poderoso Zenki y enfrentarse a estas abominaciones, así como a las fuerzas malignas que sin duda vendrán tras ellas.
