En tiempos remotos, algunas brujas unieron sus vidas a sus familiares, quienes adoptaron forma humana, dando origen a una estirpe de ogros. Uno de ellos es Morihito Otogi, un joven que, a pesar de su apariencia totalmente humana, conserva la fuerza sobrehumana de sus ancestros. Nico Wakatsuki, su amiga de la infancia y una joven bruja, tuvo que partir hacia la Tierra Sagrada de las Brujas para entrenar, separándose de Morihito.
Años después, justo antes de que Morihito ingrese a la preparatoria, Nico regresa a casa con un propósito claro: convertirlo en su familiar. Si bien la mayoría de las brujas optan por un gato o un murciélago, Nico tiene sus ojos puestos en Morihito, y no solo en el sentido literal. Aunque él parece ajeno a sus verdaderos sentimientos, terminan conviviendo bajo el mismo techo, con los padres de Morihito ausentes. A pesar de su reticencia inicial, Morihito acepta su nuevo rol, decidido a ayudar a Nico a integrarse en la sociedad humana y a protegerla de un destino funesto.
